If you are just joining me, welcome! You can find an explanation of this series here: Day 1 – Introduction.
Dear Friend,
Thank you for journeying with me these last eleven weeks! We did it! We’ve looked at twenty examples of biblical look up sometimes encounters, listened to songs, watched videos, and absorbed scriptures. And please know, I have prayed for you every step along the way.
Even though we didn’t comprehensively cover the biblical look up encounters, I’m thrilled to have dug into a big chunk of it and discover what I hope is now obvious: there really is something to this whole looking up business. As Snoopy says, in a graphic I shared on Look Up Sometimes’s Facebook page: Keep looking up…that’s the secret to life. (Well, hey, I mean if Snoopy says it…)
My favorite post was Day 4 – It’s Ok to Be Empty. It was, fittingly, one of the hardest to write. But God decided to pour something in, and I pray His encouragement blesses you as much as it did me. One of my favorite quotes also originates from that day: When we think the plan is all washed up, it may be that we’ve just arrived on the shores of God’s great plan for us. I’m hanging onto that.
There were some surprises in this journey for me. Before the series started, Crystal Stine – the hostess of Write 31 Days, encouraged each writer to organize our posts. When I did, I saw Lazarus in the line-up and couldn’t wait to write that post. But when it came time, my memory died! For the life of me, I couldn’t remember what it was I was so excited to share. Without fail, every post God has challenged me to live out the lesson.
Which brings us to the wrap-up of this series. And wow! I don’t know about you, but finishing well does not come easy for me. I struggled more in the past few weeks, in life in general, than I have in a long time. And yet, whatever I needed, God was faithful to provide. I just have to ask. It may be something small or something huge. But as I read recently somewhere, because of who God is – aren’t all things small to him?
His provision may not come in the timing we’d like. It may look a lot messier than we envisioned. It may have surprising elements and may even require an altered perspective to recognize the provision. Shoot – we might not even like it! But God is faithful. When the going gets rough, don’t give up – look up.
Which day was your favorite? Do you have a favorite quote? I would LOVE to hear what God taught you through this series in the comments or via email [email protected].
Well done, Pearl! You’ve crossed the finish line! There’s no stopping you now. I really like that quote you mentioned … that was awesome.
Thank you for your sweet words, Hulda! I’m glad that quote encouraged you too. The journey to our Father’s heart takes us unexpected places sometimes, doesn’t it? I appreciate your series in progress as well at http://www.huldabennett.com
My favorite is the best is yet to come . When Zoey put Mary in day 25 for her baby shower 🙂 then they changed out Mary for the baby Jesus! My heart melts for the kids in our church and I am so proud of each and every one of them! When the light goes on when they get the verse or story at one of our youth times it is a praise to Jesus. Thank you for this whole series you have done. It has really made me look deep and then look up!
Polly, that brings so much joy to my heart! Thankful for you, your service, your kind words. Asking God to give you peace-filled, joyful days as we look forward to Christmas — and the best yet to come! 🙂
Pearl. I’m so impressed with what you’ve done here. You really persevered and provided us with real wisdom. It was all great. You have a real gift for putting biblical truths into real life. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series.
Lori, I’m thrilled you enjoyed the series! Thank you so much for your kind words. Asking God to bless you and Ken with peace-filled, joyful days as we look forward to Christmas!
