Tea Party Tidbits #6 – I’d Rather Laugh

Tea Party Tidbits 14 - Troubled Times by Pearl Allard (Look Up Sometimes)

Dear Friend,

I’ve wracked my brain trying to figure out how to inject levity to the topic of troubled times. Except troubled times is not a humorous topic. It’s more of a just-shoot-me-now-and-do-it-quick type thing.

I’ve deleted plenty of blog posts that, in essence, say just take it to Jesus, sister, and leave yer troubles there. Which, ok, yeah – that’s the “right” thing to do except they may or may not know what they’re talking about. And even if they do, they might be so boring you’ve found a cure for your insomnia.

I didn’t want to be your cure for insomnia tonight. (Although, if I can serve you in that way…)

If you’re human, you’re struggling, so my prayer is that whatever flavor of suffering you’re enduring today you will, indeed, find Jesus to be your refuge. But also I pray that you’ll have a good, wholesome laugh in the process, too. That He’d send someone to help you smile and laugh a true deep down belly kind that helps lessen the tension of whatever storm you’re in.

Keep looking up!

  1. Laughter is good for the soul. When I’m down in the dumps, it’s surprising how often I just wish I could watch or hear something funny…anything to lift the spirits. It really does change your perspective, even if only for the moment. Of course, in some instances, a moment may be all you need.

    Thanks again, Pearl!

    1. It’s surprising how fast I lose my sense of humor. I needed the reminder as much as anyone. Some people have a gift for infusing situations with humor — such a blessing! Amazing what a change in perspective can do, isn’t it? Praying whatever your week looks like, that your sense of humor goes along for the ride. 🙂 Hugs!!

  2. I am certainly being reminded frequently that Jesus is my refuge! A daily serving of chocolate and hiding under the bed covers (despite the sweltering heat) are my second refuge.

    1. Wait, isn’t chocolate one of the main food groups? I love Ghiradelli 86% dark! What kind is your favorite? And according to Rick Warren, taking a nap can be one of the most spiritual things you do. (Acknowledges our limits and requires trust.) Always a pleasure to connect with you, Riley!

  3. A good old fashioned belly laugh is always a great way to relieve any problem! God sends us family and friends to help us laugh at our hard time:)
